The five partners
Five waterfront organizations programme together as the LA Waterfront STEM Network. Each runs its own intake, its own forms and its own invoicing, and each contacts a Requester directly once a Package Date is held.
AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles
Aquaculture and ocean farming, marine energies across wave, tidal, wind, hydrogen and solar, marine carbon dioxide removal, and ocean exploration at the Blue Economy Innovation Campus. Students pilot remotely operated underwater vehicles.
Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
A City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks facility, supported by Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
Coastal ecosystems, the field and lab research tools scientists use, marine-life behaviour, and the inner and outer anatomy of fish, sharks and eels.
Battleship IOWA Museum
Radar, propulsion, navigation and electrical systems, worked through operational engineering simulators and digital exhibits aboard the ship.
Los Angeles Maritime Institute
Learn to sail and navigate a brigantine tall ship, and study the marine environment from the STEM laboratories on board.
Los Angeles Harbor College
Marine Energy Pathway programming, alongside the network of community college pathways that runs beside the K-12 field trips.
