Every Package Date on this site was entered as an example, to show how the portal works. No venue has been asked for these dates, and none has acknowledged them. A Booking made here holds nothing.
Funding your bus
The catalog says what a bus costs. This page says who pays for it. Three programmes publish a bus subsidy a school here can apply for, each with its own cap and its own eligibility — and where a programme has not published a closing date or a term, this page says Not Published rather than guessing at one. None of this money passes through this site.
No figure here is a per-student cost
California Education Code 35330 says a pupil may not be prevented from making a field trip for lack of funds, and LAUSD reads that as barring any fee or admission charge for a trip held during regular school day hours. So every figure on this page names who pays and from what. There is no per-student amount anywhere on this site, and no figure here has been calculated by spreading a total across the size of a group.
This page does not add these up. Which of them a school can actually get depends on the school, on the district and on the programme, and every one of them is awarded by somebody else — so a total calculated here would be a number nobody has agreed to pay.
Port of Los Angeles bus subsidy — LAUSD Form 78.20R
The Port of Los Angeles pays, up to $300 towards the cost of transportation. For an LAUSD school using a district bus, LAUSD invoices the Port directly, so the school never fronts the money and never has to claim it back.

- Qualifying schools, as the Port judges them. The straightforward path is an LAUSD school using LAUSD Transportation Services. An LAUSD school paying from student-body funds, an LAUSD school that cannot use district transportation, and every non-LAUSD school are on reimbursement after the fact instead, and must hold a City of Los Angeles Business Tax Registration Certificate and a W-9 — without the certificate the City cannot disburse payment at all.
How to claim it
- Send the top portion of Form 78.20R, Authorization for Payments of Student Body and/or Reimbursable Trips, to the Port’s education tours address; Port staff sign the bottom portion and return it to the school representative or teacher.
- Submit the returned form to the LAUSD Transportation Services Division, which then invoices the Port.
The Port of Los Angeles school tour materials and its non-LAUSD bus subsidy form, revision 02/2024, both read on 20 August 2026. This site plays no part in that process: it does not submit the form, does not hold it, and never learns whether it was paid.
Italian American Museum of Los Angeles — School Bus Grant
The Italian American Museum of Los Angeles pays the school, up to $500, out of its own school bus grant fund. Grants are drawn by lottery.

- Public, private and charter schools, elementary through high school. The museum gives priority to Title I schools and to schools where more than half of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
How to claim it
- Apply to the museum through its transportation grants page, and wait for the lottery draw.
Whether the museum funds a bus to a destination other than the museum is Not Published. Its published terms do not restrict the destination and do not confirm one either, so ask the museum before you plan around it.

TreePeople — Generation Earth free bus
TreePeople pays for the bus outright through its Generation Earth programme. There is no amount for a school to claim, because there is no invoice to the school.

- Who can apply
- Los Angeles County middle and high school teachers only — it does not reach an elementary class. The trip has to support a Generation Earth Environmental Service Learning Project, and TreePeople asks for at least two weeks’ notice.
How to claim it
- Request a bus from TreePeople’s Generation Earth programme at least two weeks before the trip.
Whether buses are available for the 2026–27 school year is Not Published. When the programme’s page was read on 20 August 2026 it said Generation Earth buses were full for 2025–26, and nothing states what happens after that.

What each venue has said about the bus
Nobody has asked the four venues whether they will countersign Form 78.20R for a Package on this site, and none of them has said. Not Published in the table below means exactly that: it does not mean no, and it must not be read as yes. If a subsidy is part of how you are funding the day, ask the venue on your Package before you count on it.

Thirty-eight pages across all four venue websites, plus seven live intake forms, were read on 20 August 2026. The only occurrence of the word “bus” anywhere in them was Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s line above. Whether any venue will countersign the Port’s form for a Package is a question this network has not yet put to them.
